Book Review, Heretics of Dune

February 26, 2026

I just finished Heretics of Dune! After book 4 in the Dune series with the heavy focus on the Worm god, I wasn’t sure that I was going to continue the series. But I pressed on! And Heretics of Dune is worth it. I really enjoyed the characters at play in this book. Teg, Duncan, Lucilla, and Odrede are all excellent characters, and their interactions are dynamic. I also enjoyed getting to see more of Rakis and Gammu, as we are now tens of thousands of years after the first Dune book. We also get to see more of the Tleilax which was an interesting and welcome expansion of focus for the Dune universe.

I know Frank Herbert’s writing style is not for everyone, but it resonates with me.
